Welcome to Day 6 of my 31 Days of Design Series. Today, I'd like to share a Laundry Room that we recently designed for our returning client, Stacy, and her family. Our goal in this online design project was to give Stacy a functional space that meets the needs of her busy family while creating a stylish, organized and pretty room that she would never want to leave. We set out to create a design that would make this family hope the laundry would never end...
Okay, well maybe neverending laundry was a stretch. But, we did create a space that Stacy will enjoy spending time in. We chose a pretty color palette that was pulled from other areas of her home. Some unique items we found made sure that while this room flows with the rest of the house, it has it's own style identity.
To give this laundry room a custom, finished look and to improve the function of the space by providing a ton of storage, I selected pieces from the Martha Stewart Laundry Cabinet System from Home Depot. The "Picket White" finish gives these cabinets the look of custom built-ins for a fraction of the cost!
The room had one really nice sized window that lets in a lot of natural light. I recommended that Stacy splurge a little on a custom window treatment...
To coordinate with this gorgeous fabric I selected for the window, I chose a beautiful, graphic, eye-catching rug runner in gray and white...
I gave Stacy three options for the new paint color, all of which are a soft blue-green. I recommended that she test all three of the following colors in the space to determine which she likes best...
SW Quietude, SW Halcyon and BM Sea Star.
For instant charm and character I introduced a mini-chandelier. What I love about this particular fixture is the dark bronze finish and the beautiful glass droplets that will catch the light coming in from the window and give the room a little sparkle.
To dress up the dog feeding area in this laundry room, I selected a set of stunning bronze pet bowls...
Since the main use for the space is to do laundry, I found a cute ironing board cover to make the task a little more enjoyable.
Stacy already had a large cork board in the space that she used quite a bit. I suggested that she frame it to give it a more custom look and make it more like a piece of art.
