Two Holidays-One No-Sew Reversible Table Runner

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback on my fall home tour (please click here if you missed it).  I mentioned that I would be sharing the details on a few projects from my fall home.

Today, let's talk about the table runner.

This was a quick and easy project.  The best part, I was able to kill to seasonal birds with one stone, Fall and Christmas.  Here is a look at my fall dining table...

Below is a closer look at the table runner.  I found the beautiful fabric for this project at Hobby Lobby on 50% off day.  I loved the funky design and warm fall colors combined with gray and black.  It was perfect for fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving...

…and Christmas!  Check out the reverse side…

I used one yard of fabric, two spools of wide grosgrain ribbon and a can of fusible adhesive.
The side edges of the fabric were naturally fringed which I like, so I left them as they were.  I covered the raw ends (where the cuts were made) with the black ribbon to give it a finished look.

I mentioned in my fall home tour that I only had one weekend to prepare our home.  Therefore, I took every short cut possible.   Before attaching the ribbon to the raw edge I had to make sure the cuts were nice and straight.  Instead of tracking down my level and yard stick, I let my floor do the work.  I laid my fabric out on the tile and used the grout lines as a guide.

Please don't tell anyone my table runner was on the floor. ;)

After pinning the ribbon into place, I used my fusible adhesive to attach it to the fabric.  Then I trimmed the stray threads, flipped it over and attached ribbon to the flip side (the Christmas side).

Here is a peek at my Thanksgiving place setting with the fall side...

flip it over and this is what I have planned for Christmas...

I have to admit, the fabric was a bit of a splurge ($35/yard full price).  My advice is to watch for a sale, like I did or, justify the cost knowing that it will carry you through two seasons.
Thanks for stopping by.
