Powder Room Essentials For Your Turkey Day Celebration

Today's post is a quick public service announcement and a reminder to all the Turkey Day Host's and Hostesses out there...When you are out gathering your Thanksgiving Day supplies this weekend, don't forget about the Powder Room! The Powder Room is the busiest rooms during our holiday celebrations and it doesn't take a lot to make it special for our guests. Just a few items to make it look extra welcoming and smell fresh and pretty.

I got a head start on my shopping this week to avoid lines this weekend. My Powder Room is all set and now we can enjoy it for the entire week.

 I'm a busy girl this time of year, to keep dressing up the Powder Room quick and easy, I've narrowed it down to three essential items...A scented candle, a stack of brand new, fluffy towels and the main element...a gorgeous fresh floral arrangement delivered right to my front door (from the FTD Thanksgiving Collection).

Using these three items I created a festive, visually pleasing and wonderfully scented vignette in my powder room shelves (Potterybarn). I found the most perfect, inexpensive orange towels from the Better Homes and Gardens Collection at Walmart.

In an effort not to compete with the scents of turkey and apple pie, I chose a simple, lightly scented vanilla candle from the grocery store candle aisle.

The fresh floral arrangement from FTD topped it all off and added an amazing dose of color and scent to the space that we can enjoy for many days!

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day celebration filled with family, friends and food (and pretty powder rooms)!

Before/After~Powder Room Makeover

Recently, I had the privilege of providing an online design consultation for a wonderful client, Anna. Anna was planning a makeover on her main level powder room and she asked me to help her create a polished look.  After providing her with a custom design plan, she got to work implementing the design and the results are fabulous.  Last night, she sent me "after" photos and she gave me permission to share them.

Before we get to the "after", let's take a look at what Anna's powder room looked like before the online design consultation…

{Before}

Some of the elements we incorporated were a custom board and batten wall treatment, a dramatic new wall color, accessories/decor, new mirror, lighting, hardware, and fixtures.  We also added "feet" to the stock grade cabinetry for custom detail.

Here it is now...

{After]

Anna did a wonderful job bringing the design plan to life.  She even took it a step further by making her own custom art...

Board and batten wall treatment and the "feet" added to the cabinet gave the small space a big personality.

Since the space is small, there was not a lot of room for accessories.  This meant whatever we chose had to be special.  An iron soap lotion dispenser from Potterybarn was a great choice.

Thank you, Anna for giving me the opportunity to create a design plan for several rooms in your home and also for sharing your beautiful new bathroom with us.  It looks great!
