Before and After - Chic Playroom Makeover

Happy Friday! Today I have a fun transformation to share with you! You may remember recently I shared this Online Design Plan that I created for an EDesign Client...Well, today, my client sent me some after photos that show what the space looks like now! Before I share the photos, let me tell you a little bit about this project. My client came to me looking for a custom Online Design Plan that she could follow to makeover their playroom. 

Here is what the space looked like before...

After a quick online consultation with her, I learned that she wanted a neat, stylish, design that was easy on the budget. It also had to be easy on the eyes because it happens to be one of the first spaces you see upon entering their home through the main foyer. Above all, the new space had to be a cozy, practical and an inspiring space for their two young girls to play, read, create and relax in. 

My client sent me the photos above along with measurements of the space and I got to work creating a custom, budget friendly, design plan for them to follow.

I have a lot of favorite design elements in this space, but I have to admit I really have a crush on the area rug and the artwork. The dark wall color sets a dramatic backdrop that makes these beautiful features pop.

A Fun and Sophisticated First Floor Play Room

Hi, I hope you have a fun weekend planned.  I'm in the design studio this morning delivering hot-off-the press online design plans. We've had the busiest fall ever at The Yellow Cape Cod and I'm excited to share the latest projects. 

Today's featured online design project was designed for a young family with a first floor play room.  This room is centrally located in their absolutely beautiful home.  They came to me for a design that gave the space great look as well as great function.

Here is the design board from the online design plan we created:

A set of four houndstooth chairs combined with child friendly art and accessories give the room a ton of personality that speaks to the kids and sophistication that appeals to the grown-ups.

Natural textured baskets provide attractive, neat storage for the kids toys and books. 

Not to mention these baskets give the simple black Ikea bookcase a higher-end look.

One fun, bright green lamp is great but two is better.

Our goal was to create a design that will grow with the family through the years.  

Also included in this design plan was a true-to-scale floorplan, product source list and step by step instructions on how to implement this design.

Olivia's Playroom~A Fun and Functional Play Space

Today's featured design board is part of a recent online design plan for a playroom designed for a little girl, Livy.  Livy's parents recently finished their basement and created a gorgeous room that will be designated as Livy's play space.  

Our goal in this project was to create a design plan that was fun and functional.  And of course, beautiful.

We gave them comfortable seating in the form of this adorable sectional from PB Teen and kid friendly oversized bean bags.

These end tables are super fun for a kids space...

Bright colored inspirational art from Etsy, family photos and Livy's own art gallery provide colorful and personal decor throughout the space.

These adorable twin lamps are perfect for additional lighting to warm up the lower level space. 

Fabrics were also used to cozy up the design, gorgeous drapery, fun toss pillows and beautiful rugs all play a part in creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

The fun color palette of gray, turquoise and yellow will be grounded by brand new, gleaming dark hardwood floors.

Our hope is that this space will not only be inspiring to Livy, but also a room the whole family will enjoy.  Thank you, for inviting me into your home.
