Are you looking to claim some of that precious lower level space to create the ultimate family hangout? You may find some ideas in todays post. I just created this design plan for an EDesign Client who came to me looking to turn her lower level basement into the ultimate family hangout. She wanted a furniture layout that made great use of the large, open space, and a design that was family friendly, comfortable and stylish. The room itself had some tricky walls, angles, doorways and support columns to consider. You'll see however, I was able to work around these elements and create a furniture arrangement that gave us everything we needed in the room while maintaining a functional, eye pleasing and balanced space.

Before and After - Chic Playroom Makeover

Happy Friday! Today I have a fun transformation to share with you! You may remember recently I shared this Online Design Plan that I created for an EDesign Client...Well, today, my client sent me some after photos that show what the space looks like now! Before I share the photos, let me tell you a little bit about this project. My client came to me looking for a custom Online Design Plan that she could follow to makeover their playroom. 

Here is what the space looked like before...

After a quick online consultation with her, I learned that she wanted a neat, stylish, design that was easy on the budget. It also had to be easy on the eyes because it happens to be one of the first spaces you see upon entering their home through the main foyer. Above all, the new space had to be a cozy, practical and an inspiring space for their two young girls to play, read, create and relax in. 

My client sent me the photos above along with measurements of the space and I got to work creating a custom, budget friendly, design plan for them to follow.

I have a lot of favorite design elements in this space, but I have to admit I really have a crush on the area rug and the artwork. The dark wall color sets a dramatic backdrop that makes these beautiful features pop.

Great Room Makeover Reveal - An E-Design Comes To Life

I currently have openings for new Online Design Projects!

Happy Friday! You guys have been asking for a room makeover reveal, so today, I'm sharing an E-Design project that just came to life. My client did an AMAZING job putting her Online Design Plan into action and bringing the design concept I created for her Great Room to reality! This reveal is an excellent example of the dramatic results you can achieve through E-Design. I consulted with her and learned a lot about her family, lifestyle, project budget and style preferences. Then, I came up with a custom room design, and provided her with a plan and product source list. 

She did the rest! 

Here is a look at the space "Before"...

As you can see, she already had a great start on the space when she came to me (New Kitchen, Fireplace and Floors). She asked me to help her create a new furniture arrangement, select new furnishings, lighting, accessories, rugs, and the other details needed to finish off the look in her Great Room. 

Here is the design plan I created for her...

She wasted no time getting started on her makeover!

The key ingredient in this design plan was scale. This is a huge room. The items I selected were large and substantial in order to fill the space and give it a cozy feel. For instance, this console table behind the sofa is 77" long!! The gallery frames above it each measure 25"x 25" which creates a large scale focal point to balance the room.

My client took this new look a little further and carried it into her foyer! She had a large wall in the foyer that was just waiting to be filled. She shopped around and found a console table and accessories that complemented new look in the Great Room.
