Design Plan - Family Moves In and Updates Childhood Home

I currently have openings for new Online Design Projects, please click here for more information.

Today I would like to share a recent design project that has the most romantic back story. My clients, reached out to me and asked for my help creating a design plan for their new home. During our consultation I learned that it happened to be the childhood home that one of them grew up in.

Not only is that in itself romantic, but the 1920's house is absolutely stunning. They asked me to help update the home without compromising it's original charm and character. We started in their Family Room, creating an updated design that embraced the gorgeous natural woodworking throughout the space. They were so happy with the results of our design plan, that they came back to us to help with the Formal Living Room and adjacent Dining Room.

A Beautiful Updated Living Room With Oak Trim

Welcome to Day 8 of my 31 Days of Design Series. Today, I'm excited to share a family room we designed that features the most beautiful medium oak woodworking. Our clients came to us for a design plan that embraced the natural oak used throughout their home and did not require them to paint it in order to acheive a fresh, updated, current look.

The story of the house is quite romantic. Our client just purchased the family home she grew up in and will be raising her family there now. She came to us for a design plan that allowed her to bring her own style to the family room, while embracing the beauty and charm of the home. The space we were working in features beautiful, medium oak trim, fireplace mantle and builtin bookcases. After consulting with the family, I got to work creating a design that highlighted the oak. We used a combination of the clients existing furniture pieces and new items to give them a comfortable, inviting space that is high in style, yet timeless.

Take a look..
