The Ultimate Woman Cave She Shed

Today's post is definetly indulgent, it's all about my dream "Girls Space". Chairish reached out to me and asked me to create a style board depicting my ideas for the "Ultimate Woman Cave".

This was pretty easy for me to do, as I have dreamt about a building a woman cave for years.  I've had the vision in my mind for a while and Chairish gave me the perfect opportunity to share it. The "She Shed" craze that has taken the Pinterest world by storm inspired the foundation of my dream space. Take a look at this "She Shed" created by Ella Claire, it is one of my favorites...

If you click on the image, it will take you to her post where she shares how she created this incredible space by embellishing a simple back yard shed. My dream "Woman Cave" would begin with a large garden shed nestled along the tree line in our back yard. It would feature large windows looking out into the woods. It would be a place where I could retreat with my favorite girls to to admire these surroundings while talking all things design, sip wine and enjoy nature from a shelter filled with luxurious finishes, lavish details, gorgeous furniture and decor. The outside of my She Shed would coordinate with the outside of our home, and the inside would look a little something like this...

My dream Woman Cave would include a comfortable lounge area and a kitchenette/wine bar.
Here is a look at the potential floorpan...

Some of the luxury finishes within my She Shed would be a delicious paint color palette, loads of custom woodworking, marble counter tops, and gorgeous lighting.
Design elements would include vintage pieces, like these stunning bar stools I found from Chairish...

...luxurious velvet upholstery, fur throws, gorgeous rugs and cabinetry filled with beautiful stemware and serving pieces for entertaining. I think it's a good thing this is all just a dream at this point, otherwise I think the girls and I may never want to leave my Dream Woman Cave.

Thanks to Chairish for asking me to share my "Ultimate Woman's Cave" design with you. It's fun to dream. You never know, some day I may just get to work on this.

From Summer To Fall With Just A Few Changes

Here it is!  The first fall post of the year.  I haven't technically started fall decorating yet, but I've started to think about it.  Warm accent colors, natural textures and cozy layers are in the plan.  When I designed the interior of our home, I used a mainly neutral color scheme that would allow me to change things up with the seasons easily.  Using my family room as an example, I'd like to show how the look can go from summer to fall with just a few tweaks.

Here is a design board featuring some of the key pieces in my family room…

For the summer, I kept the look simple and neutral.  As summer winds down, I plan to switch out a few items and add extra layers to cozy up the room for fall and winter.   Warm, spicy, autumnal accent colors could be introduced through a few accessories.  Chunky knit throw blankets and an extra layer of toss pillows would give our sofa a cozy look that even Murphie won't be able to resist.

Take a look at how these simple changes would affect the look of the room…

Taking it one step further, incorporating a new, personality filled chair would be a lot of fun.  Accent chairs are an easy way to change up the look of a room.  You can see in this inspiration board that I switched out the zebra chair for a spicy orange accent chair from Chairish.  I love the way a piece like this can break up a matching furniture set and give a room a ton of personality.  (If you are not familiar with Chairish, it's a curator approved online shop where design lovers can buy and sell pre-loved decor to one another.  It's a fantastic resource for finding unique  vintage furniture pieces like this for your home).

If I were to incorporate an accent chair like this in our living room, I could move the zebra chair into my dining room home office.  After the fall/winter season, I could see this piece upstairs in my hallway office nook.  It would bring color and character to an otherwise serious office area.  Since I like to move things around, I keep small plastic furniture sliders on the bottom of my furniture feet.  They make it simple to slide pieces like this from room to room.

This example shows that changing the look of a room does not always require a complete overhaul.  Just simple changes like a few new accessories and adding a fun personality filled accent chair can make a big difference in the overall look of a space.

Here is a look at last year's fall home tour, if you would like to see some of these ideas in place.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
