Fall Porch

The other day, I posted about my struggle with Seasonal Decor Confusion due to my recent Christmas decor feature by Better Homes and Gardens.

I've made progress since then and I'm making my way back to seasonal reality.
Thanks to everyone that weighed in.

Part of my therapy was decorating the porch for fall.

This is an extra special task for me each year.  Not only because we all love fall {warm colors, football games, donuts and cider}, but it also marks my wedding anniversary.

My husband and I were married 13 years ago today {September 25th}.  Our wedding reception was held at my parents home in the country.  Our wedding decor included fall colors {provided by mother nature}, grapevine, mums, cabbages, pumpkins, gourds and twinkling lights.

Each year as I collect things to put in our porch display, I'm reminded of that day.

The wreath on the door was made by my mom from the actual flowers and grapevine from our wedding reception.

It's amazing to me that after 13 years it still looks good {just like you, honey}.

The welcome sign was a gift from my aunt, folk artist MShaw.  She painted it for the wedding reception entrance to welcome guests.

Not only is this display full of heartwarming memories but it's a great tool for quizzing my husband.  Although, this year when I asked him where our wreath came from...I think he remembered.

Thank you, for allowing me to indulge in a sappy trip down memory lane.
Happy 13th Anniversary to my best friend.

  6. Happy Anniversary! I love all of your little sentimental decor through out your home. I am trying to add more to mine. I tend to forget to add those when I am decorating.

  7. Happy 13th! I LOVE Fall too. I miss seeing the leaves change color and the smell of Autumn. I would like to be on the East coast for that entire season if it was possible. My family and I will be traveling to PA for Thanksgiving this year so at least we will get a taste of it:) You have beautiful decorations and it is so sweet that they are so sentimental for you!

  20. LOVE your Fall front porch. I just got in to Flushing last night at 12:30 after a three day drive from AZ. So beautiful to see the Fall colors as we traveled across the country. So glad Fall waited for us to arrive this year. Looking forward to the orchard tomorrow and getting some delicious Fall treats and decor. Can't wait to help my in-laws decorate their front porch this week, thanks for the inspiration.

Take it from me each year just gets better. We live in a blue Cape Cod and I am always looking for ideas in decorating a Cape. Thanks for such wonderful ideas, keep up the good work!

  26. I always struggle with decor because I have a hard time decorating with items that are just 'decorative'. I want most items to have some sort of meaning or sentimental memory...which is why I LOVE your post about how you've woven items from your wedding into your Fall Porch. I also really dig how you've kept pinks/reds in the scheme, rather than going entirely yellow/brown.
    THANKS for the inspiration :)
