Gray Navy and Coral Master Bedroom

Hello there! It's been a while! I've been so busy in the design studio, I haven't had a chance to check in here as much as usual. The good news is,  I have a ton of new design projects to share with you! I'd like to share a Master Bedroom Design Plan I just delivered to a client.

My client came to me and asked for a timeless, but current design to update her gorgeous Master Bedroom. She requested a mainly neutral design with an injection of unexpected color. She sent me her Pinterest Board and I noticed she was drawn to corals/oranges and navy. After consulting with my client on her needs, wants and wishes for the space, I created this custom design...

My Master Bedroom Makeover

It's official, a Master Bedroom Spruce Up is underway at The Yellow Cape Cod. It all started with the addition of new curtain panels. You know how it goes, one thing leads to another and before you know it, I was inspired to give the space a whole new look.

Here is a peek at the inspiration board I put together that illustrates the new look..

It's all about layers, natural texture and neutral colors highlighted with a dose of blue. I'm applying everything I talked about in my blog post on "Casual Comfort Style"  over at Country Curtains. If you missed it, you can catch it here. 

I've decided to challenge myself to save a little money by shopping discount stores for some of the elements while making a few select investments. I'm keeping my current furniture, the new look will come from new paint, textiles and accessories. I can't wait to share the progress of this transformation. Stay tuned, it's going to be fun! Newlywed's Navy and Terra Cotta Master Retreat

Today's featured design plan is an exciting project we just created for an exciting time in our client, Kelly's life.  Not only did she just buy a brand new home, but this home will be where her and her newlywed husband start their new life together after their wedding next month!

Kelly came to us and asked us to create a design plan for her large master suite.  Take a look...

After consulting with Kelly through our design questionnaire and viewing photos/measurements of the space, we got busy creating a custom design plan based on her lifestyle, budget and style preferences.  We provided her with a true to scale floor plan illustration, a complete product source list (shopping list), a custom paint color palette and step by step instructions on putting the new design in place.  

Here is a look at the true to scale floor plan illustration we prepared that provides Kelly with a birds eye view of her new space...

We started the new room by selecting a fabulous new king sized bed featuring an upholstered headboard with tufting. The slight wings on the sides with nail heads add so much sophistication and glamour to this bed from Wayfair.

Instead of one large bench at the foot of the bed, we recommended two smaller stools. These stools from Home Decorators are extra special due to their interesting shape. 

Kelly has a beautiful tray ceiling in this space.  To really make it a dramatic design feature, we gave her a few suggestions for a custom wall treatment using this beautiful paint color palette and moldings...

For richness and contrast, we incorporated a beautiful dark wood dresser and coordinating bedside tables.  The hardware on these pieces is absolutely gorgeous. Since we are mounting the flatscreen TV over the dresser, the extra tall dresser is the perfect height. 

For color, pattern and interest we introduced these fantastic framed prints.  The palette of blue, beige and terra cotta was the perfect compliment to this design. 

We kept the bedding simple and elegant.  We paired a white duvet with greek key detail from Potterybarn with a navy blue coverlet and a fun mix of patterned toss pillows.  

For task lighting and a dramatic way to frame the new bed, we placed one of these incredible copper and mercury glass lamps on each bedside table.  These lamps are large in scale which is exactly what we needed next to the large headboard.

Kelly has the perfect corner for a small scale upholstered chair like this one from Home Decorators.  With a cozy throw and a pretty toss pillow, this will make an attractive and comfortable reading nook. This chair is also light enough that it can be easily moved for TV viewing.

Giveaway~Which Rug Did She Choose Game

I thought it would be fun to play a little game today.  In this online design plan project for Kelly's Master Bedroom, we gave her two different rug options.   At the end of this post,  play along by guessing which rug Kelly chose for her new bedroom.  A winner will be randomly chosen from those who take a guess.  The winner will receive a special gift from my shop (one of these).

Above is the true to scale floorplan illustration of the room with all of the new items we recommended.   

We went with a soft platinum and cream color scheme with accents in navy. 

Both rug options we gave her bring a little of the accent color to the space. 

(both rugs are available in my shop).  This Navy/Gray Medallion Wool Rug has a ton of personality.  

The other rug (Navy Flat Weave Wool Rug) option we chose has a fantastic geometric design...

Soft gray end tables flanking the bed have a beautiful curved shape that softens the room.

A pair of large scale glossy white lamps with a gorgeous double layered shade add a bit of luxury to the space. 

This wood toned dresser is an amazing compliment to the cool platinum, cream and navy color palette.
