The Yellow Cape Cod: Dutch Colonial Dining Room Makeover

I don't know about you guys, but I have a feeling formal dining rooms are making a big comeback. The past few years, they seem to have been left out of home plans as folks stopped using them as much as they used to. But lately, it seems my clients are having lots of family meals together this year with all of the time we have spent at home. I'm using the term "formal" loosely, of course... I should be using the term "conventional" as formal is sometimes associated with "off-limits". Case in point, this dining room makeover I currently designed for a client...

She came to me for a design plan to update the look of her large, formal, dining room. I created a casual, stylish, Dutch Colonial look that embraces her heirloom pieces, offers a ton of room for the family to gather, and tones down the formality of the space making it feel light, bright, warm and inviting.

Here is what the space looked like "before"...

After consulting with my client through my Online Design service, viewing the photos and measurements she emailed to me, I created a step by step EDesign Plan for her to follow to give her space a whole new look and feel. Who wouldn't love to pull up a chair to that table for family dinner? This space is warm, inviting, stylish, comfortable, and when filled with family and a delicious meal...soothing to the soul.
