Makeover Reveal - A Home Office Refresh

Please click here to see how I may be able to help during this #StayAtHome #WorkFromHome period.

Today's post is a recent Home Office Makeover that I designed through my online design service. You may remember I recently shared the design plan for this project...you can see it here.

We updated and re-freshed the look of this space (which was already gorgeous). The elements we selected to give the space a new look were selected to complement the beautiful existing features like dark woodworking, brick fireplace, custom built-in desk and the amazing wood planked ceiling. New furniture, art, accessories, window treatments, flooring, and a new fabric on a cozy armchair were some of the items we introduced.

Here is what the space looked like before:

You may remember when I shared the design plan, I talked a little about the flooring. My client previously had carpet in this space, but in an effort to find something more pet friendly, we went with this Lifeproof Luxury Laminate and a large easy-to-clean area rug. The floor looks surprisingly authentic and appears as a natural stone from a distance.

By far, the biggest change was the fresh new paint color that brings light into the space. Painting a light khaki color with a slight gray base updated the look of the room and pulled new undertones out of the woodworking.

In the design plan, I recommended a new pair of coordinating chairs in this striped fabric. This armchair that was already in the space and a family favorite was recovered in said striped fabric instead. This was a great solution as it gave us a matching set, without taking away the families favorite chair.

The client already had this beautiful mirror. It loved how much light it brought into the space, so we kept it. Due to it's grand size, it was important to have a large, substantial piece underneath. And, to have large, substantially sized accessories as well. This Ming cabinet from Arhaus was perfect. It offers a ton of closed storage for office supplies. The over-sized lamp and scale sculpture finished off this vignette nicely.

This room is a functional home office as well as a cozy reading nook/relaxation area for the family when moms not working. It's a great example of how you can swap out just a few things to breathe new life into your space. I think she will have the best background in the next zoom meeting.

Again, if you would like to see the plan I created and my client followed to achieve this look,
