Back To School Christmas - Holiday Housewalk 2019

Welcome to Stop 26 on the Holiday Housewalk! If you are visiting from Tidbits, welcome!

Wasn't that old home she shared beautiful? It's so much fun to see all the different holiday decor approaches and enjoy all of the the lovely designs. This year, for my Holiday Housewalk Tour, I did something a little different. The Yellow Cape Cod went "Back to School"!!

My daughter's tough study schedule means she won't be home for the holidays until just before Christmas. Since she can't be here to enjoy our holiday decor, I decided to bring the feeling of being home for the holidays to her and her sisters living in the Zeta Sorority House at Michigan State University!

The day after Thanksgiving, I packed up the truck with loads of Christmas decor and headed to East Lansing to spend the night with her in the house to decorate our hearts out. It was so much fun to experience college life for a night. While I take you on a tour of the house all decked out for the holidays, I'll tell you how my weekend at the Zeta House went...

Twas the night after Thanksgiving and all through Zeta House, not a sister was stirring, and definitely no mouse.

My girl and I nestled all snug in bunk beds while visions of holiday decor danced in our heads.

When all of a sudden there arose such a clatter and I sprang from my bunk to see what was the matter. Cell phone alarm! It was 5 in the morn! Only TWELVE HOURS to get this mansion adorned!

The Keurig was there to keep us fueled all day long. Lots of joe would be needed to keep our game strong.

With fresh evergreens and a sleigh scored from St. Vinnies Thrift Store, I started to deck out the main entrance door.

Into the house I ventured to go, to give the Dining Hall a holiday glow.

On green!
On white!
On black and white lights!

The Dining Room tree has all the school pride.
A "Spartan Approved" holiday vibe!

Now on to the Living Room! And, on to the Hall!
We have lots to do before the night fall!

Up went a tree and up went the garlands. Gold ornaments and white fur were the themes for these darlin's.

Stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nick might show himself there.

My work at the Zeta House was complete.
It was time to pack up and drive through the sleet.

To leave my girls behind for a short while, hoping this decor would make them all smile.

Later that evening as I laid in my bed, I received lots of text messages that read...

"Thank you, Mama Macklem, for all the decor. It'll keep us feeling cozy 'till we reach our homes' door".

Hearing those words made my heart feel so light.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!

Now it's time to continue the tour at City Farmhouse!

My Holiday Housewalk Tour was sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores. Many of the decor items used in this design were thrifted finds.
