If You Ever Heard Me Snub Fake Plants - I Take It Back

As we've all noticed,  the Fiddle Leaf Fig has taken over the design world. You can spot one in almost every amazing home the internet. For good reason, they are gorgeous plants that are often large in scale and add great natural texture that brings a sense of "life" to a space. They have a way of "finishing off" a room. Bloggers are nuts over this house plant and we're in good company. Take a look at the following images, these spaces are the works of some of our favorite Designers who share the love for the Fiddle Leaf Fig...

While the Fiddle Leaf Fig provides instant beauty and easily fits in to any design, there have been mixed reviews on the level of maintenance they require. Some swear that they are the easiest plants to care for, while other have said that they are fickle and temperamental. One thing is certain, they are not inexpensive (especially if you want a large one) and it can be disappointing to invest in one and have it die.  Luckily, faux plants have come a long way in recent years. Some higher end versions look so realistic it's hard to tell the difference between a real one and a fake one at first glance. Take a look at this faux  Fiddle Leaf Fig I just got for my office...

I placed it in a large basket "planter" to make it look more authentic.

Although I usually would prefer to have a real plant over a faux plant, this has been great solution for me. I'm able to move it from room to room and place it wherever I wish without worrying if it has the right amount of light.

The best part is that I can store it away in our storage room when it's time for the Christmas tree to come out.

To anyone who may have heard me snub faux plants in the past, I take it back.

  1. This is great to hear, especially since real Fiddle Leaf Fig is toxic to pets (and my cat WOULD find a way to chew on it).

    1. That is a great point, I didn't realize real Fiddle Leaf Figs were toxic to pets. Thanks for pointing it out, this is a great alternative.

  2. I just posted my fake plant on instagram yesterday and declared the 90's were back. While I do have luck with my real Fiddle Leaf Fig (knock on wood), I have noticed I have allergies and real plants and their soil {may} be a trigger for me. SO, I'm on board! Let's start a revival of the FAKE house plant! LOL ~Marcy

  4. I've killed several Fiddle Leaf Figs. A designer friend of mine had a trick of putting fake plants in dirt smudged terra cotta pots for a touch of realism. Another friend bought an orchid plant at a yard sale, watered it weekly for 2 months before she realized it was fake.....

  5. What a disappointment to go to commercial fig site to find out they don't sell to regular folks!
You have to be a business, wholesaler, etc.
FAQ What if I am not a business but I would like to purchase your product?
Unfortunately we do not sell to the general public; however, we sell wholesale artificial plants to resellers so please contact us for additional information.

    1. Anonymous, Thanks for your feedback. This post was meant to inspire others to give faux tress another look as I feel they have come a long way in recent years, not necessarily to sell anything. But, here is a link where you can order this plant if you would like: http://www.silkplantsdirect.com/fiddle-leaf-fig-tree-green-pack-of-1.html If you have any trouble, you can email them at info@silkplantsdirect.com and they will help you place your order.
