Today's featured design project is the third space we designed in a recent three room online design project. I shared the kitchen and family room the other day (if you missed it, click here). Our client, Cynthia has a gorgeous home featuring a bonus sun room adjacent to the kitchen and family room. We created a design plan for the sun room that compliments the new design for the other two spaces.
We gave her two design boards for her sunroom, each featuring a different option for art...
The first design board features a pair of extra large typography inspired alphabet prints. Cynthia's young boys often use this space for homework, these prints speak to that while still maintaining a sophisticated look that adults can appreciate.
The second design board shows one of my favorite tree silhouette prints. These prints are gorgeous and play up the panoramic view of the outdoors featured in this sun room filled with windows. These prints are extra large in scale and will really make a statement in the room.

To make this space function for dinners, entertaining and homework sessions, we recommended this mid-dark toned table for the room.
Surrounded by leather upholstered chairs in creamy white. These chairs are perfect for a young family thanks to their wipe-ability. The clean, contemporary style plays nicely with the X base on the table.
Speaking of family friendliness, we chose this bold graphic indoor/outdoor rug. Not only does it bring a ton of style to the design, but it is a great choice for a young family.

To keep the room feeling light and bright, we selected these drapes from Potterybarn.
A mid-toned gray wall color will provide contrast and highlight the windows beautifully. This space gets a lot of natural light so it can handle a nice saturated paint color. A color like this will ground the space while the light drapery panels maintain a light, airy feeling.
A console table in a warm wood tone (similar to the table finish) provides storage for the young family. We also incorporated wall ledges and hanging baskets to help keep homework, games, puzzles, books and papers organized in a very attractive way.

By placing the three design boards next to each other you can see how we used a consistent color palette of grays and tans along with mid-dark wood tones in each of the three rooms. Our goal was to create a design that gave each space it's own personality and purpose, while maintaining flow throughout the open concept home.
