Whole House Design Project~Linen, Gray and Turquoise

Today's online design project is part one of a two part post.  After beginning an online design consultation with Bernadette on her family room, she asked us to extend the project into other areas of her home including her living room, dining room and kitchen.  We got to work creating a cohesive whole house design plan using new pieces as well as incorporating some items she already had.

Since there is so much to see in this project I decided to share it two parts. Beginning today with the living room and family room.

The Living Room...

Bernadette really liked a room makeover I recently completed and blogged about here.  This makeover inspired the color palette we used throughout Bernadette's home.  The palette mainly consists of variations of gray and tan accentuated with soft turquoise.  Here is a look at the true-to-scale floor-plan illustration we provided to show Bernadette exactly where to place each item ...

We gave her a gorgeous patterned area rug (Ballard Designs), and clean, sophisticated furniture in neutral upholstery.  Art, lighting, accessories, occasional tables, specific paint color recommendation and custom drapes round out the items used in this space.  (For information on the drapes, please email me at theyellowcapecod@yahoo.com for pricing, lead time and to view the 26 different color options).

In The Family Room...

We carried the same design style and color palette into this space, but gave the room it's own personality and purpose.  Here is a look at the true-to-scale floor-plan illustration we provided for this room...

In the inspiration board, you can see the custom paint color palette we created for Bernadette.  This palette was used throughout the whole house design project.

While searching for art in this palette, we came across this amazing set of oil reproduction paintings in soft grays, tans and muted turquoise.  I fell in love with them and added them to my collection, click here for details.  The large scale of this pair of paintings made them the perfect for flanking the door leading into Bernadette's family room from the foyer.  Not only was the scale and color palette of this art spot on for this project, but the salvaged wood frames gave the "new" room a little time-worn character.

A gorgeous area rug, large distressed wooden clock, custom drapes, new media console, end tables, ottomans, custom paint color recommendation and a fun collection of toss pillows (found on Etsy) finish off the new family room design.

As with all our design plans, we provided Bernadette with a complete product source list (where-to-buy shopping list) and step by step instructions on how to implement her custom design.

Stay tuned later this week for details on the dining room and kitchen we designed as part of this whole house design project.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love your designs! Would you be able to tell me where the distressed clock is from?
