Fall Entertaining~Butlers Pantry In A Bookcase

Are you guys enjoying the Finding Fall Home Tour as much as I am? Today is day four.  As much as I am looking forward to seeing what's in store tomorrow, I'm sad to see it end.

Monday was my turn to share our fall home.  In that post, I confessed to having an obsession with collecting dishes and serving pieces to use during the different seasons.

Whenever I'm out on a thrifting adventure, I check out the dishware.  Thrift store sets are usually sold incomplete, which is fine because I like to mix them up anyway.

Over the years I've collected a lot of dishes.  A hoard if you ask my hubby.
I really enjoy my collection.  I love looking at it and playing around with it.  For me, arranging and re-arranging dishware is a stress reliever.   In addition to self medicating, I like to keep our home ready to entertain family and friends by keeping these items handy.

To cover both of these bases, I created a "butlers pantry" out of a small bookcase in the corner of our living room {If you click on the Holiday tab at the top of my blog, you can see how I've used this butlers pantry bookcase for other holidays}.

I have two large floor to ceiling industrial style shelves in our basement where I store the bulk of my treasures.  Each season, I make a trip downstairs to mix up a collection of pieces that I will use for entertaining during the next weeks and display my bookcase.

Last weekend I worked on my fall entertaining display.  I left some room for the kids seasonal artwork like Max's hand spider.  I incorporated my latest thrift store find, a collection of silver wine glasses.  They are patiently waiting to be filled with Witches Brew.

My goal was to have everything I needed for a last minute party ready to go.
I also wanted an eye pleasing arrangement that would carry me through Halloween and Thanksgiving with just a few small tweaks.

It may be a little early for the black cat, but the kids love him.  Using a black and white Thanksgiving printable next to him created a "Hallow-giving" or "Thanks-o-ween" theme.
I'll  continue to work on a title, neither of those really work.

  1. What I would "give" for a storage space with floor-to-ceiling industrial shelves to house my goodies ... lucky you! I love what you've done ... once again, the pops of orange are gorgeous ... fabulous plates, too!

  3. Beautiful home! I was wondering where you found your black shelf (that holds the serving pieces)? Thanks!
