Exciting Announcement Coming Soon and An Art Inspired Dining Room

There is some very exciting stuff happening behind the scenes of TheYellowCapeCod.  At the end of this post, I'll give you a hint.   Today's featured design board is from a recent multi-room, whole house online design plan.  The client, Evie, came to me looking for a design plan for her entire main level (kitchen, living room, dining room, entryway and den).  It was important to Evie that her new home had seamless flow while each space had it's own personality.

One way to give a space a unique personality is with art.  In this dining room, I used a piece that Evie found prior to our consultation.  I am a firm believer that if a piece of art speaks to you, you should have it.  Art is personal and powerful.  Since this hydrangea print spoke to Evie, I put it front and center in her semi-formal dining room.

Here you can see the dining room plan next to the inspiration board I created for the adjacent living room.  These two spaces compliment each other, yet the art and accessories keep them from looking exactly the same.

Recently, I conducted a facebook poll asking what you want to see more of in 2013.  The most popular requests had to do with accessorizing.  It's not always easy to find unique art/accessories.  While designing tons of rooms for "real people" like you and I,  I've made some pretty fabulous discoveries.  I've also made "friends" with "insiders".  Stay tuned for an exciting announcement on how you can benefit from my new relationships.  :)

  2. Sarah I too love the design board and was looking into buying the Surya rug but was wondering if the sky color is blue. It looks like gray on the website. Thanks for all your great designs. I am a huge fan. Vicki

  3. Sarah, I love love love this board! The blues and browns are so soothing but not neutral. The two fabrics - a stripe and a coordinating floral are just gorgeous and reminded me of a bolt of fabric I had stashed away. I'm so excited. Can't wait for the weekend! And, I just purchased the inspiration piece. I cannot believe paid almost $20 for shipping, but the hydrangea print will "complete" my beautiful MBR that is lacking that seminal piece. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you've done for two rooms of my home! Lyzz Pickle (yes, really)

  6. Sarah - Love this inspriation for the main floor of the home. Did you recommend all the walls on the floor be painted the blue color in the room with the wainscoating or did the living room remain cream like the picture with the curtains? Thanks!!
