We all have secrets that we're not proud of, right?
I'm about to reveal my "dirtiest" secret.
Here goes...
Welcome to my laundry room.
Thanks to the Sherwin-Williams Perfect Palette campaign, this room is getting a makeover. I will be using Sherwin-Williams Chip It! button to create the new room design.
By helping me decide which color palette to use, you get a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 gift card to Sherwin-Williams!
As you can see, I've never done anything decorative in this space. It's basically a blank canvas. Sometimes it's tricky starting a room design from scratch. Luckily, Sherwin-Williams's new Chip It! button will create a beautiful color palette for me based on any image I find inspiring. You can get the Chip It! button just like the Pin It button for Pinterest. First, you drag the Chip It! button into your toolbar. Whenever you spot a photo you like online, just click the Chip It! button and then click the photo itself. Voila, you get the picture's paint colors.
Are you ready to help me decide on a color scheme? I hope so, because I'm having a hard time choosing between these two beautiful color palettes. By helping me, you get a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card!
First, add the Chip It! button to your bookmarks bar by dragging the bookmarklet below to your toolbar:
(click here to watch a video on how to use Chip It!)
(click here to watch a video on how to use Chip It!)
Then, help me decide between the following color palettes:
Palette Number One
Palette number one was created from an image of a pillow I found at Dwell Studio.
Using the Chip It! button, I was provided with this gorgeous color palette:
Palette Number Two
Since this space is a laundry room, I thought it would be appropriate to look to fashion for inspiration.
This is an outfit I fell in love with on Pinterest.
Using this image and your new Chip It! button, check out the color palette that corresponds with this image:
What do you think?
Which palette do you like the best? Number one, inspired by the gorgeous fabric, or number two, inspired by the fabulous outfit?
Which one should I use for my laundry room makeover?

I like the palette from the pillow! But I love teal. I would love to win the contest. I have so many rooms I want to paint and decorate and the gift cards would be so helpful.
ReplyDeleteLove the tones in palette number one! Very soothing and kind of fun - needed for the laundry room!!
ReplyDeletePalette Number One with fun yet soothing tones needed for the laundry room :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try Chip It. I've been using pictaculous.com for awhile, but it's sometimes hard to translate RGB to paint colors.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely teal/tan/black combination. Those colors would "invite" me to spend time in that room! :)
ReplyDeleteI love both palettes but think the punch of teal would be fun in the laundry room!! Also, can't wait to use the Chip-it!!
ReplyDeleteI love the blue jean profile. Jean colors have proven themselves to have classic staying power. Aqua/Teal is lovely but will be here today and gone tomorrow , in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteWell since the walls are already tan be bold one use number one! In fact my laundry room looks Nout the same this my have given me some inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love both palettes but think the punch of teal would be fun in the laundry!! Can't wait to use Chip It!!
ReplyDeleteI love Chip It! I prefer Palette #2. Its more sophisticated and current.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, tough choices. I love both but think I'd go with the second because the first seems so trendy right now. Love everything you do! Very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI would chose the 2nd. More classic and would stand the test of time so you won't have to redo it a second time.
ReplyDeleteBoth are lovely, but I would have to choose Palette Number One. The colors have more energy!
ReplyDeletePillow!!
ReplyDeleteI like both but lean toward Palette Number One. Love the teal color.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love Chip it?
ReplyDeleteI would pick the pillow pallet but I always remember that it's so easy to change paint if you don't love your first choice.
Definitely palette number one! It has more of a pop of color! Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI like the number two - although I do love the teal color, it may be too strong for a small space. But YOU are the awesome designer! Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteI am going to say #2. I think that #1 is trendy right now, so you will get lots of votes for that, but I think #2 is fresh, classic, and will not scream 2012.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your decision! And thanks for the great giveaway. Too good to pass up.
- {darlene} @fieldstonehilldesign.com
I prefer choice #2 - it would be fun to add some tortoise (sunglasses) somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI vote for #1. The laundry room is the perfect place to have fun with color! Hopefully you will be anxious to do laundry in such a pretty space....at least one can hope, right?!
ReplyDeleteNumber one is lovely!
ReplyDeletePalette #1 seems looks great! Palette #2 seems like it's missing that extra pop of color.
ReplyDeleteI love color palette number one! My favorite is the "Breezy" hue. Reminds me of fresh linen hanging on the line, swaying in the breeze.
ReplyDelete#2 all the way. Love the outfit and the timeless vibe such colors would create in a laundry room.
ReplyDeleteI vote for #! love the outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow palette! #2 looks more like how the room is now.
ReplyDeleteLove them both, but I would go for the splash of teal!
ReplyDeleteThis Chip It tool is the bomb! I not only used to for your outfit pic, but I'm going to use it in remodeling my little 1929 cottage . . the kitchen is next! As for the laundry room, it should be crisp, clean and fresh (just like I like my laundry) and it should remind me of something I love (so I love gardening/nature and the botanical feel to this pillow is excellent) and there should be a dollop of something whimsical and fun (cause I have to spend a lot of time in there) so the Ionic paint color is awesome . . . and seriously, who would expect these lovely pheasants in the laundry room?!!! LOVE IT! Can't wait to see!
ReplyDeletePalette Number One! No doubt! Can't wait to see it! : )
ReplyDelete#1.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway. I like palette one maybe because teal is one of my favorite colours!
ReplyDeleteChip It is wonderful!! I like Palette Number 1 the best. Laundry rooms need color, and they need to be fun!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should go more BOLD, HAVE more fun. It's just the laundry rm. I like the 1st one better only because of the Ionian.
ReplyDeleteI love the pop of color in the first palette. In a room that is devoted to a chore, a happy color is a must!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely #1. You need some classic color in there!!! I am in need of some major repainting around here. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteEJ, www.thesearemyreasons.com
I love the first pallet but of course I did my laundry room in apple green with black and white damask trim!! It's the laundry room so have fun with it. Who care if you have to change an accent color every 5 yrs? I can't wait to see what you choose because I love everything that you do!
ReplyDeleteI love #1, and I think it would be fun for a laundry room. :)
ReplyDeleteI vote #1!!!!! Teal is a great accent color!
ReplyDeleteOhhh...I like them both, but I love palette number one! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely pallet one. Of course, I painted my laundry room Sherwin Williams's fusion green with black and white damask accents last summer. Who cares if it's trendy? The laundry room needs to be fun. I'm excited to see what you choose because I love everything that you do!
ReplyDeleteI recommend the pillow option. Teal is a very popular color in fashion currently, which fits your theme. It's also a bright and cheery spring color. Who likes doing laundry? Why not let the bold blue tones brighten the small room and make doing laundry a little more bearable.
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoy reading about color therapy turquoise radiates the peace, calm and tranquility of blue and the balance and growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow. Turquoise recharges our spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, alleviating feelings of loneliness.
I don't know about you but when I have to do laundry I instantly feel mental stress and tiredness. LOL!
Palette number one!! I am so in love with all things teal, aqua, turquoise, and everything in between. =)
ReplyDeleteWhen it's laundry time, no need to sing the blues,
ReplyDeleteI think a zip of teal is the ONE for you!
I would pick palate # 1 and I would paint the walls Breezy and put the aqua, black and brown as accent colors in curtains, pictures, accessories, etc. And I would love to win!! I just moved to a new home and need to re-paint the whole house! I wish you lived closer to me and I would hire you to help me pick paint colors! (I'm in the west side of Michigan) If you ever come to Grand Rapids..... :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely #2 - love those colors!
ReplyDeleteMy vote has to be for the more muted color palette of the second option. While I agree with other comments that the pop of teal is really fun, the second color palette option feels more calm and comfortable to me. I can't wait to see what you choose. I'm sure it will be gorgeous either way! The Chip It plugin is very cool by the way!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tweeted this: https://twitter.com/ahapstudios/status/215307247054635010
ReplyDeleteI love #1. the colors are rich and soothing. There's nothing like a little black and the teal adds the pop!
ReplyDeleteHello Yellow Cape Cod! I'm a huge fan!!! As for what colors. I like both palettes. I just think the colors in the number one palette are cheery and bright. After all, who likes doing laundry? In this space I definitely think it would make laundry day more tolerable! :)
ReplyDeleteThe second one. It's so classic. Though the first does flow with the rest of your house being that it has the black white and neutral with a pop of color. It's a win either way.
ReplyDeletePalette #1 is my vote! I love the pop of teal!
ReplyDelete#1 - fun for a laundry room!
ReplyDeleteLove the demin blues in option #2! The teal and black is nice, but blue and tan is a classic combination.
ReplyDeleteooh...I say #1
ReplyDeleteI love palette number 1. Its so bright and it would make doing the laundry so much more fun.
ReplyDeletecmcilwain6493@charter.net
I love anything peacock, so I would probably go with palette 1. I think I'd go a little lighter with the colors, though--it seems a bit dark in there.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one!
ReplyDeleteI love #1; the teal is such a nice, calming color. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would go with #1 but go with the first 4 as paint options, and accent with the teal in accessories, drapes, etc., and then perhaps add another color pop, like yellow? I think it would look fab, still look classic and you can change out with seasons and trends. Good luck! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI love both of them but I think for the laundry room I would pick #1. Makes it fun and lively...might make laundry time more exciting :)

I love palette number one. Beautiful colors!
ReplyDeletei love the pillow one- you need a bright pop of color!
ReplyDeleteI love option #1.
ReplyDeleteKelly
You have to use palette number one! My best friend just her laundry room; painted teal with black and white accents. It is amazing. You won't be sorry.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I can't wait to go check out Chip It. I love Number 1. So crisp, clean and a wonderful palette for a small space. I have it in a guest bath and love it. I am getting ready to make the splurge and paint those oak (orange tint) builder grade kitchen cabinets, would love to win. Thanks for sharing this post with us. Jeni jfoor at fairpoint dot net
ReplyDeleteI vote for palette #1 (the pillow), although I love the creativity in #2.
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to Chip It! It's a much better way of storing my color ideas, and it's quite a lot of fun to have the colors pulled automatically.
I love palatte number 2. It is classic. Plus number 1 reminds me of your daughter's room.
ReplyDeleteI love the first palette! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the pillow, I just did a total makeover of my dining room in similar colors with the teal accent. I used the Sherman Williams Whole wheat and I did their bright white on the board and batten I did. I also used the SW whole wheat in my laundry room. It looks great! Can't wait to see what you do!

Chip It is such a cool idea! I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite combination of colors for your laundry room is the one inspired by the fabric on the pillow. (OPTION # 1)
I think it is a crisp and fresh look. I think we all like a fresh feeling in the laundry room! Espeacially when we have to deal with smelly laundry ha ha!
I love #1. Love the splash of teal!
ReplyDeleteI've used chip it for awhile now and I love it!! It has been so helpful in choosing colors for our new (and 1st) house! My vote is the teal and tan combination for the laundry room! I think it would give it a clean and homey look that would be so fun to look at when you are stuck doing laundry!!
ReplyDeleteI love palette #1- I am doing something similar in my room now. Thanks for the chance to win! :)

I love the second color palette, especially since it comes from inspiration from clothing, which will soon be washed in the updated laundry room!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Palette #1. Those colors are so fresh feeling and perfect for a laundry room.
ReplyDeleteI love palette #1 the colors would look great in a laundry room
ReplyDeleteMichelle mnr91199@yahoo.com
Palette #1. I'd use the beige as my wall color and add white cabinets to organize your washing powders. Then id chose a mosaic tile that tied in the teal from the palette to make the room pop with color. If you could I would also knock out the wall between the sink and washer to open the room up.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the pillow palette, because I think a laundry room needs a good pop of color. That ChipIt tool is really cool. I can definitely see using it.
ReplyDeletePalette 1 has the pop of color that will make a laundry room cheery.
ReplyDelete#1...100%%% Gorgeous palette...it will laundry a task you can't wait to do!
ReplyDeleteI like Teal so #1.
ReplyDeleteI love the freshness of palette #1! A laundry room is a space to have a little fun with color, and I love that teal!
ReplyDeleteI like the teal pallette that would look great!
ReplyDelete#1, love the Ionian color! Would make the laundry room fun for otherwise not fun work!!!
ReplyDeleteEASY, Pallette number 1. The room will be fresh and clean just like your laundry. I just painted my front door teal and I love it. I did not know about Chip it but will try it now as I still have the porch floor to paint. You WILL love the teal.(Ionian) I am going to took at the quiver tan for floor and the black for my accent colors..........thanks so much for this post, you made my day!
ReplyDeleteI vote for option 1! I can't wait to see the transformation!
ReplyDeleteMelabc123@aol.com
I love both palettes but my favorite is the first one. I can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteI love the palette based on the pillow - number 1! I may use that somewhere in my basement refresher.
ReplyDeleteI love both color palettes, but I think I'd go with #2!
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow pallet!!
ReplyDeleteChip It! is so fun!!
ReplyDeleteTough choice though. My favorite is pallette #1, but your home has such classic beauty, maybe going with #2 would be best!?!?! I vote for #1!!! :)
Palette #2! Gray is all the rage right now, and SW Software (one of the color suggested by ChipIt!) would be great in that space! Good luck choosing a palette. :)
ReplyDeleteI love palette #2. The colors look so clean and fresh.
ReplyDeleteI would go with #1 I love the color ionian and file with the light you have in your room it would work great. I have never used chip it before but I am in love with that.
ReplyDeleteI love pallet #1!
ReplyDeleteI'd go for #2. If your laundry room looks too trendy (as in #1) in a few years it will tired and worn (think hunter green & burgundy, circa 2001. #2 is classic.
ReplyDeleteI love the navy/khaki palate. Use Software SW7074 (from the chip it palette for the walls and white for the trim. Khaki and crisp navy for accessories. The great thing about this palette is there are so many colors you can use for "pops" Yellow, red and fuchsia would add punch. Blush or mustard would give it a vintage vibe.
ReplyDeleteI love the first palette. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTweeted it: https://twitter.com/SenoraHB/status/216586081922060288
ReplyDeleteI think you will choose number 1 but I rthink I would choose #2!
ReplyDelete#1! Very close to the color pallette in our laundry room! :)
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 is fresh and fun! What laundry room couldn't use a dose of that?
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the space done in the palette based off the fabric from the pillow! So cjic!
ReplyDeleteLeslie
I love teal! The first palette would add so much fun to the laundry room! It would be very cheery :)
ReplyDeleteThe first one, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI recently painted my bathroom navy, and I absolutely love it. Deep navy and crisp white would look sharp in a laundry room as well, but i think the teal and espresso is the way to go for you! I choose palette #1.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE #1 and that Ionian color is fabulous! I think you will do something spectacular with those colors!
ReplyDeletedefinately #1!!! wonderful combination of colors!
ReplyDeleteFor a laundry room, I would go with 1. Although I like 2, you can have more fun with 1 in the laundry room.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE #1! Fresh, Fun, and happy!
ReplyDeletePalette number one! The teal brings an upbeat feeling to doing an everyday task. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the navy and brown!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the bright, lively colors in Palette #1 would help brighten up the joyous task of laundry!
ReplyDeleteMy vote definitely goes with #1!
Check out my blog at http://missfearlesslystrong.blogspot.com/2012/06/blog-share-giveaway.html
I vote for palette #1. Love those colors and just trying the Chip It tool for the first time. Very neat!
ReplyDeletePallette #1 would be my choice! Great colors to brighten up an otherwise dull space!
ReplyDeleteI vote for Palette Number 1.
ReplyDeleteEven though I like palette number 2 I have to pick palette number one for the laundry room, I really like the Ionian color in there. Have fun and we cannot wait to see the end result. :)
ReplyDeleteHi sarah! I am going to say palette 1... Love it!!! My laundry room is in need of help also! I hope I win;)
ReplyDeleteI like palette #1 but since it's very similar to your daughter's recent bedroom makeover I would say go with #2.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted this too! Twitter @cleverlyinspire
ReplyDeleteLove both palette choices but there is something about palette 1 that would just help me enjoy doing laundry more. Can't wait to see what you do in there!!
ReplyDeleteI love palette number 1. The colors are very similar to what we are using for our family room makeover :)
ReplyDeleteTweeted the giveaway! https://twitter.com/karenpartin/status/217355456602054656
ReplyDeletePalette #1 is perfect!! Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeletePalette # 1 all the way! I didn't have to give it much thought. Awesome colors for that breezy, cool ocean feel! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI love that you can take a picture you love and use this new Chip It! tool to inspire a new and improved room!
ReplyDeleteI love palette number one. It's bright, cheery, and fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the Palette #1 but I would actually go for Palette 2 for a laundry room. Laundry is less than glamorous but I think with Palette 2 you can make it a comfy casual space with style. I used Chip it and it's the coolest thing ever. SW has some great tools for picking paint color I've used several on my Master home project and would love to win to be able to afford a glamorous space to relax in.
ReplyDeletePalette # 1 gets my vote!
ReplyDeleteNumber 1. I think it will be brighter!!!!! Im sure whatever you do will look great! Kathymcgonigal@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI like Palette Number 1, the colors are something that would really make the room pop! I know if I like my laundry room better, i'd probably do laundry more!
ReplyDelete#1 -- I love the contrast in this palette. The colors remind me of the coast of Greece. They're soothing, yet they have some zing. It would be really cool to do an accent wall in the Ionian! Are you brave enough? I think every room should have a touch of black.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the colors from the pillow! Love teal in the laundry room!
ReplyDeletePallette #1. The teal is gorgeous.
ReplyDeletePalettes number 1. Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteI love Palette Number 1! Can't wait (optimistic thinking) to see how you incorporate the Ionian color!
ReplyDeletePalette Number 1 is by far my favorite! I love Dwell Studio products! I can't wait to see the finished product!!!
ReplyDeleteNumber one, the pillow, for sure!! Can't wait to see the finished room!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit! I love those colors!
ReplyDeleteColor palette #1 is beautiful! The Breezy and Quiver Tan look fabulous together with the pop of turquoise and other neutrals. Definitely refreshing laundry room colors. Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI vote for #1! Love the colors and perfect for a laundry room!
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/#!/MaureenBranham
Palette number 1, and you gave me some ideas for my own!
ReplyDeletePalette #2. I love natural tones.
ReplyDeleteI like both and either would work, but I think I prefer pallette 1 from the pillow. Chip It is a cool tool! Thanks for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLove palette #1!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful :-)
I think you should choose Palette Number Two
ReplyDeletesafety_chick@hotmail.com
Number 2!
ReplyDeleteChoose number 1! Very pretty!
ReplyDeletechoose number 1!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like number 2!
ReplyDeleteI like the pillow option!! I absolutely love the colors and the ChipIt tool!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI would suggest palette one for the laundry room. It seems more fun, and goodness knows we need more fun for laundry
ReplyDeleteI like number 2!!! It would be perfect for a laundry room!
ReplyDeleteI would choose #2. Both are nice, but the first I think could be trendy. I love that #2 is classic and timeless!
ReplyDeleteThe palette from the pillow. It has color and the other doesn't. mnewkham@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love #1, the colors are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really like #2! I am a huge fan of navy.
ReplyDeleteI like option #1. Love those colors, especially for a laundry room!
ReplyDeleteLoved palette #1! Gorgeous!!

ReplyDeleteI like #2 i feel like i could live with the color palet longer the first one is to trendy i shared this on facebook so my friends could go see your awesome blogs
ReplyDelete#2 just screams Cape Cod to me, I love the outfit and think it would be so cute as a laundry room! Love the Chip It option they have now, so cool!
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow colors and would love to win!
ReplyDeleteI choose the colors from the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted this. https://twitter.com/paintergal92/status/218524360858808320
Ooo! Palette Number One! The bird, those colors are all so tranquil! I think everyone needs a bit of calmness in the room when doing a nagging chore. Don't you? Plus! That aqua color always makes me think of clean fresh water. Ahhh Love it! :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOoo! Palette Number One! The bird - those colors are all so tranquil! I love it, and besides don't we all need some calmness in the room when we do load after load?! Lol Plus, that aqua color always makes me think of fresh clean water. Sounds perfect to me! Good luck with everything!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for palette 2!
ReplyDeleteI love number two. HaHa, that looks funny. It is soothing and calm yet with a splash of navy and who doesn't love navy? Navy is sharp and focused, which is exactly what you need to be while tackling laundry. :)
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for option number 1 with the aqua/teal accent color. Its such a soothing color and reminds me of water/tranquility and God only knows you need tranqulity when tacking the chore of doing laundry! LOL I am entering the contest and would LOVE to win this!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely palette #1. The teal hue is far more refreshing, especially when combined with breezy blue. The second choice has too much brown/tan for my liking and dirt is something I try to get rid of in my laundry room!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, love the Chip It! tool. I have difficulty visualizing what colors to combine when painting and this quick takes the guess work out. Now if only they could magically put the paint on the wall for me!
I love palette #1. Going to have to try the Chip it option for my daughters bedroom. We have lived in current house 5 years and her room is still not painted because I cant decide on the right color
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for option #2 - beautiful colors!
ReplyDelete#2 is my opinion. Shelleyf76@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteDefinitely palette #2 what a perfect place for those great colors
ReplyDeleteI vote for Palette #1. Love the colors!
ReplyDeletePalette #1. But I'm currently a little obsessed with that particular set of shades myself. Besides, it's a laundry room - you don't have to worry about coordinating your furniture with the color! =)
ReplyDeleteLove palette #2. Perfect for a laundry room!
ReplyDeletePallet 2. It will withstand the trend, very classic!
ReplyDeletePallete 2! We have dark blue walls in one of our bathroom with similar accent colors. I LOVE it. We also have a touch of orange in there.
ReplyDeleteI vote for #1. Since you probably had way more ideas for your daughter's room that you couldn't use, maybe you can use them there with a similar palette!
ReplyDeleteI love #1!! I love the teal and white together. That would look so great with brown. All of the organizational items in brown and white!! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWhat Option number 1 is certainly the bright, fun color you need for a laundry room. It is such a fun, bright color. What woman does not need fun and bright to help us get our laundry? I love all of your ideas.
ReplyDeleteNumber two!
ReplyDeleteLove #2 ... The concept of using clothing as an inspiration for your laundry room is awesome
ReplyDeleteThe chip it tool is so cool! Can't wait to use it!
ReplyDeleteI love both paletts, but I think number one is the one I'd go with. Such a great pillow!

ReplyDeleteMy vote is #2. Love all the shades of blue that can be chosen from the denim.
ReplyDeleteI love Palette #1.
