My Laundry Room~Win a $1,000 Visa Gift Card and $200 To Sherwin Williams

We all have secrets that we're not proud of, right?
I'm about to reveal my "dirtiest" secret.
Here goes...

Welcome to my laundry room.

Thanks to the Sherwin-Williams Perfect Palette campaign, this room is getting a makeover.  I will be using Sherwin-Williams Chip It! button to create the new room design.
By helping me decide which color palette to use, you get a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 gift card to Sherwin-Williams!

As you can see, I've never done anything decorative in this space.  It's basically a blank canvas. Sometimes it's tricky starting a room design from scratch.   Luckily, Sherwin-Williams's new Chip It! button will create a beautiful color palette for me based on any image I find inspiring.  You can get the Chip It! button just like the Pin It button for Pinterest.  First, you drag the Chip It! button into your toolbar.  Whenever you spot a photo you like online, just click the Chip It! button and then click the photo itself.  Voila, you get the picture's paint colors.

Are you ready to help me decide on a color scheme?  I hope so, because I'm having a hard time choosing between these two beautiful color palettes.  By helping me, you get a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card!
First, add the Chip It! button to your bookmarks bar by dragging the bookmarklet below to your toolbar:Chip It!
(click here to watch a video on how to use Chip It!)
Then, help me decide between the following color palettes:

Palette Number One
Palette number one was created from an image of a pillow I found at Dwell Studio.
Using the Chip It! button, I was provided with this gorgeous color palette:

Palette Number Two
Since this space is a laundry room, I thought it would be appropriate to look to fashion for inspiration.
This is an outfit I fell in love with on Pinterest.
Using this image and your new Chip It! button, check out the color palette that corresponds with this image:

What do you think?
Which palette do you like the best?  Number one, inspired by the gorgeous fabric, or number two, inspired by the fabulous outfit?
Which one should I use for my laundry room makeover?

  1. I like the palette from the pillow! But I love teal. I would love to win the contest. I have so many rooms I want to paint and decorate and the gift cards would be so helpful.

  2. Love the tones in palette number one! Very soothing and kind of fun - needed for the laundry room!!

  3. Palette Number One with fun yet soothing tones needed for the laundry room :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Can't wait to try Chip It. I've been using pictaculous.com for awhile, but it's sometimes hard to translate RGB to paint colors.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Definitely teal/tan/black combination. Those colors would "invite" me to spend time in that room! :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. I love both palettes but think the punch of teal would be fun in the laundry room!! Also, can't wait to use the Chip-it!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I love the blue jean profile. Jean colors have proven themselves to have classic staying power. Aqua/Teal is lovely but will be here today and gone tomorrow , in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Well since the walls are already tan be bold one use number one! In fact my laundry room looks Nout the same this my have given me some inspiration.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I love both palettes but think the punch of teal would be fun in the laundry!! Can't wait to use Chip It!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I love Chip It! I prefer Palette #2. Its more sophisticated and current.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thanks for the info, tough choices. I love both but think I'd go with the second because the first seems so trendy right now. Love everything you do! Very inspiring.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I would chose the 2nd. More classic and would stand the test of time so you won't have to redo it a second time.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Both are lovely, but I would have to choose Palette Number One. The colors have more energy!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I like both but lean toward Palette Number One. Love the teal color.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Don't you just love Chip it?
I would pick the pillow pallet but I always remember that it's so easy to change paint if you don't love your first choice.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Definitely palette number one! It has more of a pop of color! Thank you for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I like the number two - although I do love the teal color, it may be too strong for a small space. But YOU are the awesome designer! Can't wait to see what you do!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am going to say #2. I think that #1 is trendy right now, so you will get lots of votes for that, but I think #2 is fresh, classic, and will not scream 2012.
Good luck with your decision! And thanks for the great giveaway. Too good to pass up.

  19. I prefer choice #2 - it would be fun to add some tortoise (sunglasses) somewhere!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I vote for #1. The laundry room is the perfect place to have fun with color! Hopefully you will be anxious to do laundry in such a pretty space....at least one can hope, right?!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Palette #1 seems looks great! Palette #2 seems like it's missing that extra pop of color.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love color palette number one! My favorite is the "Breezy" hue. Reminds me of fresh linen hanging on the line, swaying in the breeze.

    ReplyDelete
  23. #2 all the way. Love the outfit and the timeless vibe such colors would create in a laundry room.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I vote for #! love the outfit!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Love the pillow palette! #2 looks more like how the room is now.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Love them both, but I would go for the splash of teal!

    ReplyDelete
  27. This Chip It tool is the bomb! I not only used to for your outfit pic, but I'm going to use it in remodeling my little 1929 cottage . . the kitchen is next! As for the laundry room, it should be crisp, clean and fresh (just like I like my laundry) and it should remind me of something I love (so I love gardening/nature and the botanical feel to this pillow is excellent) and there should be a dollop of something whimsical and fun (cause I have to spend a lot of time in there) so the Ionic paint color is awesome . . . and seriously, who would expect these lovely pheasants in the laundry room?!!! LOVE IT! Can't wait to see!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Palette Number One! No doubt! Can't wait to see it! : )

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for a great giveaway. I like palette one maybe because teal is one of my favorite colours!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Chip It is wonderful!! I like Palette Number 1 the best. Laundry rooms need color, and they need to be fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think you should go more BOLD, HAVE more fun. It's just the laundry rm. I like the 1st one better only because of the Ionian.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love the pop of color in the first palette. In a room that is devoted to a chore, a happy color is a must!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Definitely #1. You need some classic color in there!!! I am in need of some major repainting around here. Thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love the first pallet but of course I did my laundry room in apple green with black and white damask trim!! It's the laundry room so have fun with it. Who care if you have to change an accent color every 5 yrs? I can't wait to see what you choose because I love everything that you do!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love #1, and I think it would be fun for a laundry room. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I vote #1!!!!! Teal is a great accent color!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ohhh...I like them both, but I love palette number one! :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Definitely pallet one. Of course, I painted my laundry room Sherwin Williams's fusion green with black and white damask accents last summer. Who cares if it's trendy? The laundry room needs to be fun. I'm excited to see what you choose because I love everything that you do!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I recommend the pillow option. Teal is a very popular color in fashion currently, which fits your theme. It's also a bright and cheery spring color. Who likes doing laundry? Why not let the bold blue tones brighten the small room and make doing laundry a little more bearable.

If you enjoy reading about color therapy turquoise radiates the peace, calm and tranquility of blue and the balance and growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow. Turquoise recharges our spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, alleviating feelings of loneliness.

I don't know about you but when I have to do laundry I instantly feel mental stress and tiredness. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Palette number one!! I am so in love with all things teal, aqua, turquoise, and everything in between. =)

    ReplyDelete
  41. When it's laundry time, no need to sing the blues,
I think a zip of teal is the ONE for you!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would pick palate # 1 and I would paint the walls Breezy and put the aqua, black and brown as accent colors in curtains, pictures, accessories, etc. And I would love to win!! I just moved to a new home and need to re-paint the whole house! I wish you lived closer to me and I would hire you to help me pick paint colors! (I'm in the west side of Michigan) If you ever come to Grand Rapids..... :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Definitely #2 - love those colors!

    ReplyDelete
  44. My vote has to be for the more muted color palette of the second option. While I agree with other comments that the pop of teal is really fun, the second color palette option feels more calm and comfortable to me. I can't wait to see what you choose. I'm sure it will be gorgeous either way! The Chip It plugin is very cool by the way!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Also, I tweeted this: https://twitter.com/ahapstudios/status/215307247054635010

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love #1. the colors are rich and soothing. There's nothing like a little black and the teal adds the pop!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hello Yellow Cape Cod! I'm a huge fan!!! As for what colors. I like both palettes. I just think the colors in the number one palette are cheery and bright. After all, who likes doing laundry? In this space I definitely think it would make laundry day more tolerable! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. The second one. It's so classic. Though the first does flow with the rest of your house being that it has the black white and neutral with a pop of color. It's a win either way.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Palette #1 is my vote! I love the pop of teal!

    ReplyDelete
  50. #1 - fun for a laundry room!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Love the demin blues in option #2! The teal and black is nice, but blue and tan is a classic combination.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love palette number 1. Its so bright and it would make doing the laundry so much more fun.

    cmcilwain6493@charter.net

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love anything peacock, so I would probably go with palette 1. I think I'd go a little lighter with the colors, though--it seems a bit dark in there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love #1; the teal is such a nice, calming color. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would go with #1 but go with the first 4 as paint options, and accent with the teal in accessories, drapes, etc., and then perhaps add another color pop, like yellow? I think it would look fab, still look classic and you can change out with seasons and trends. Good luck! ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  56. I love both of them but I think for the laundry room I would pick #1. Makes it fun and lively...might make laundry time more exciting :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thanks...I can't wait to go check out Chip It. I love Number 1. So crisp, clean and a wonderful palette for a small space. I have it in a guest bath and love it. I am getting ready to make the splurge and paint those oak (orange tint) builder grade kitchen cabinets, would love to win. Thanks for sharing this post with us. Jeni jfoor at fairpoint dot net

  64. I vote for palette #1 (the pillow), although I love the creativity in #2.

Thanks for introducing me to Chip It! It's a much better way of storing my color ideas, and it's quite a lot of fun to have the colors pulled automatically.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I love palatte number 2. It is classic. Plus number 1 reminds me of your daughter's room.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love the first palette! Beautiful!

  68. Chip It is such a cool idea! I love it!

My favorite combination of colors for your laundry room is the one inspired by the fabric on the pillow. (OPTION # 1)

I think it is a crisp and fresh look. I think we all like a fresh feeling in the laundry room! Espeacially when we have to deal with smelly laundry ha ha!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love #1. Love the splash of teal!

  70. I've used chip it for awhile now and I love it!! It has been so helpful in choosing colors for our new (and 1st) house! My vote is the teal and tan combination for the laundry room! I think it would give it a clean and homey look that would be so fun to look at when you are stuck doing laundry!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I love palette #1 the colors would look great in a laundry room

  80. Palette #1. I'd use the beige as my wall color and add white cabinets to organize your washing powders. Then id chose a mosaic tile that tied in the teal from the palette to make the room pop with color. If you could I would also knock out the wall between the sink and washer to open the room up.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I vote for the pillow palette, because I think a laundry room needs a good pop of color. That ChipIt tool is really cool. I can definitely see using it.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Palette 1 has the pop of color that will make a laundry room cheery.

    ReplyDelete
  83. #1...100%%% Gorgeous palette...it will laundry a task you can't wait to do!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I love both color palettes, but I think I'd go with #2!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Chip It! is so fun!!

Tough choice though. My favorite is pallette #1, but your home has such classic beauty, maybe going with #2 would be best!?!?! I vote for #1!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. Palette #2! Gray is all the rage right now, and SW Software (one of the color suggested by ChipIt!) would be great in that space! Good luck choosing a palette. :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love palette #2. The colors look so clean and fresh.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I would go with #1 I love the color ionian and file with the light you have in your room it would work great. I have never used chip it before but I am in love with that.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'd go for #2. If your laundry room looks too trendy (as in #1) in a few years it will tired and worn (think hunter green & burgundy, circa 2001. #2 is classic.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I love the navy/khaki palate. Use Software SW7074 (from the chip it palette for the walls and white for the trim. Khaki and crisp navy for accessories. The great thing about this palette is there are so many colors you can use for "pops" Yellow, red and fuchsia would add punch. Blush or mustard would give it a vintage vibe.

    ReplyDelete
  105. The first one, for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I recently painted my bathroom navy, and I absolutely love it. Deep navy and crisp white would look sharp in a laundry room as well, but i think the teal and espresso is the way to go for you! I choose palette #1.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I LOVE #1 and that Ionian color is fabulous! I think you will do something spectacular with those colors!

    ReplyDelete
  108. definately #1!!! wonderful combination of colors!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Palette number one! The teal brings an upbeat feeling to doing an everyday task. :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. I love the Palette #1 but I would actually go for Palette 2 for a laundry room. Laundry is less than glamorous but I think with Palette 2 you can make it a comfy casual space with style. I used Chip it and it's the coolest thing ever. SW has some great tools for picking paint color I've used several on my Master home project and would love to win to be able to afford a glamorous space to relax in.

  129. #1 -- I love the contrast in this palette. The colors remind me of the coast of Greece. They're soothing, yet they have some zing. It would be really cool to do an accent wall in the Ionian! Are you brave enough? I think every room should have a touch of black.

  159. Ooo! Palette Number One! The bird, those colors are all so tranquil! I think everyone needs a bit of calmness in the room when doing a nagging chore. Don't you? Plus! That aqua color always makes me think of clean fresh water. Ahhh Love it! :) Good luck!

  160. Ooo! Palette Number One! The bird - those colors are all so tranquil! I love it, and besides don't we all need some calmness in the room when we do load after load?! Lol Plus, that aqua color always makes me think of fresh clean water. Sounds perfect to me! Good luck with everything!

  161. I love number two. HaHa, that looks funny. It is soothing and calm yet with a splash of navy and who doesn't love navy? Navy is sharp and focused, which is exactly what you need to be while tackling laundry. :)

  162. My vote is for option number 1 with the aqua/teal accent color. Its such a soothing color and reminds me of water/tranquility and God only knows you need tranqulity when tacking the chore of doing laundry! LOL I am entering the contest and would LOVE to win this!

  163. Definitely palette #1. The teal hue is far more refreshing, especially when combined with breezy blue. The second choice has too much brown/tan for my liking and dirt is something I try to get rid of in my laundry room!
By the way, love the Chip It! tool. I have difficulty visualizing what colors to combine when painting and this quick takes the guess work out. Now if only they could magically put the paint on the wall for me!

  164. I love palette #1. Going to have to try the Chip it option for my daughters bedroom. We have lived in current house 5 years and her room is still not painted because I cant decide on the right color

  169. Palette #1. But I'm currently a little obsessed with that particular set of shades myself. Besides, it's a laundry room - you don't have to worry about coordinating your furniture with the color! =)

  170. Love palette #2. Perfect for a laundry room!

  171. Pallet 2. It will withstand the trend, very classic!

  172. Pallete 2! We have dark blue walls in one of our bathroom with similar accent colors. I LOVE it. We also have a touch of orange in there.

  173. I vote for #1. Since you probably had way more ideas for your daughter's room that you couldn't use, maybe you can use them there with a similar palette!

  174. I love #1!! I love the teal and white together. That would look so great with brown. All of the organizational items in brown and white!! LOVE!

  175. What Option number 1 is certainly the bright, fun color you need for a laundry room. It is such a fun, bright color. What woman does not need fun and bright to help us get our laundry? I love all of your ideas.

I love both paletts, but I think number one is the one I'd go with. Such a great pillow!
