Client Family Room Makeover

Recently, I was given the opportunity to work with a beautiful family in their gorgeous home on a complete re-design of their two story great room.  The space was beautiful to start with.  However, it  wasn't conducive to the young family that lives there.

 (Before)

(After)

They wanted a room that's warm, inviting and casual.  A space that beckons friends, family and pets to cozy up on the couch for movies and intimate conversions.
A room that is both beautiful and livable.
My clients words were; "I want a room that my whole family wants to be in, together, at the same time".
To accomplish this, we started with comfortable new furnishings and a fresh wall color.   The next items on the agenda were a custom built-in bookcase,  new fireplace surround and ginormous (70 inch) flatscreen TV.

We are about halfway finished, still waiting on furniture delivery.
Stay tuned to see more of this makeover as it's completed.
Thank you, Mark and Heidi,  for allowing me to invade inviting me into your home.

  6. Ummmm, that is an amazing transformation! Seriously one of my favorite built-ins I have ever seen. And I'm a sucker for built-ins, I've debated fitting one in our living room. It looks like this family will be able to cozy up just like they wanted to!

  11. Very lovely! Is it ever a problem when flat screens are put over fireplaces due to the heat when the fire is lit?

  12. I can't tell you how much I love this - I would love something like this for my family room. I just can't figure things out in there. I have always envisioned something like this in there but we have a corner fireplace so I don't know if a huge bookshelf next to it would look weird - love love love this

  31. I have to ask -- please what is the paint color? I will say I love that this is a family room, yet has a sophisticated style with the built-ins and of course, that paint color.

  32. How did they do the stone on the fireplace? did they tear out the old tile or did they tile over it with the stone? I'm wanting to do something similar with my fireplace.
