Straw (Butter) Yellow and Gray Master Bedroom

Yesterday, I made the exciting announcement that The Yellow Cape Cod is starting the year with openings for brand new online design projects! I also mentioned that I'm dedicating the month of January to sharing some of the projects we've been so busy working on. Well, January starts today!!

This project is hot off the press. It was a Master Bedroom Online Design Plan that was given as a Christmas gift from the husband to the wife as a total surprise! My client, the husband, reserved the design plan and completed the consultation on behalf of his wife after talking to her about her wishes for the space. He ordered the items we recommended and had them waiting for her under the tree on Christmas day. So romantic!

Take a look…

Prior to our consult, my clients had a fresh coat of paint applied to the space (two colors, SW Latte and SW Anonymous). They also already had a very nice furniture set that included dark wood dressers, headboard, chest and end tables. We kept these elements in the design plan and built upon them to create a new look.

My client wanted to create a serene bedroom retreat with a gray and yellow color scheme. Their existing wall colors were mainly tan with one dark gray accent wall. Keeping all this in mind I set out to find items that gave them the new color palette they wanted while complimenting their existing paint. To accomplish this, I chose a muted, subtle, buttery straw colored accent color that plays very nicely with tan, as opposed to bright, intense, yellow which would not get along as well.

This bedding from Wayfair was perfect. The colors look amazing with SW Latte and SW Anonymous. The pattern mix is young and fresh while lending a nod towards traditional decor. We layered a gray coverlet, Ikat patterned duvet and coordinating pillows to finish off the look.

The room itself is quite large, we took advantage of extra space in front of the window and created cozy seating area with a pair of upholstered chairs, a metal accent table and patterned toss pillows.

Some of the items we put into this design plan were budget friendly, while some could be considered an investment. This amazing wool throw blanket was one of the more pricey elements, however it's something that could easily be shopped for a less expensive option that is almost as fabulous with a little searching.

The items highlighted in this post were just some of the design elements we included in this design plan. As with all of our projects, we gave our clients recommendations for everything they need to create a gorgeous, totally complete, custom bedroom design that they will enjoy for many years.
