Pool House Styling Project

Yesterday, I had a photo shoot that marks the beginning of a really, really, really exciting project.  I will spill the details on it soon.  The home belongs to Sara and Erik, long time clients of mine.   I've shared several room makeovers from their home including their den, master bedroom, guest bedroom and pool house. While I was there yesterday, it was a warm sunny day and I was admiring their beautiful pool and the amazing pool house that I had the honor of styling for them last year.

This room along with a fabulous in-ground pool, two-story outdoor fireplace/pizza oven, hot tub and full outdoor kitchen was a recent addition to their home.  Sara and Erik asked me to coordinate rugs, fabrics and accessories that would give the space a fun, exciting and complete design.

This family loves to spend their summers outside, with their two young children enjoying their  backyard oasis.  The pool house serves as their summertime living room.

It was built to be an all-season space but still has some exposure to the elements including an occasional wet bathing suit.

Therefore, I chose durable materials such as an indoor/outdoor area rug.

You would never know it was an indoor/outdoor rug.  It is incredibly soft and beautiful enough to be used in any interior space.  We selected a companion to this rug in the same color palette with a large starfish design for a little fun in the lounge area next to the pool.

We also selected a graphic indoor/outdoor fabric to cover the homeowners existing lounge chair cushions.

Sara and Erik love to entertain.  Therefore, many of the accessories double as serving pieces.
I used the fern as a large scale coffee table centerpiece.  It easily be set aside when the coloring books and board games come out.

Sara commissioned her favorite local artist Julie Abbott to paint this custom piece of art…

This piece describes Sara's favorite things…smiles, kisses, wine and summertime.  It's a beautiful piece that adds a ton of her awesome personality to the space.

Their existing furniture was given a new life with new seat cushions, custom covers and lumbar pillows. We hired a local seamstress for this project and were pleasantly surprised at the cost. Using the rug as our color palette inspiration I helped her choose indoor/outdoor fade resistant fabrics from an online fabric retailer.

Blue and teal look so pretty against brick and crisp white walls.  Just outside these windows is their gorgeous pool that reflects this color palette.

Punches of coral were added throughout the room in pillows, throws and accessories.

Large pieces of driftwood, sand and shells are perfect summer time accents.  When fall rolls around these items can easily be changed to something more harvest-esque.

The goal in this styling project was to give the room a finished, pulled together look while keeping the space comfortable, practical for the outdoors, usable and family friendly.

Thank you, Sara and Erik for inviting me into your home and allowing me to style this space.  It was so much fun working in such a beautiful space.  Enjoy your summer.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Have a wonderful long weekend!  Sarah
